Join us on 12 March 2025 as we announce the winners of the 2025 Commonwealth Youth Awards for Excellence in London as part of a series of celebratory events marking Commonwealth Day.
Organised by the Commonwealth Secretariat, in partnership with the Khalili Foundation and the Commonwealth Foundation, the awards recognise dynamic young people aged 15-29 and celebrate their achievements towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Those shortlisted include social entrepreneurs, environmental champions, innovators, and human rights activists across the Commonwealth.
This year, the Commonwealth Foundation will provide additional Capacity Strengthening Grants to eligible regional finalists to help scale their projects, while the Khalili Foundation will offer additional prizes, including five Youth PEACE Awards, to young people working in peace and development as part of the Commonwealth Faith Festival initiative.
Twenty of those shortlisted will be selected as finalists, and the overall winners will attend the awards ceremony. Each finalist will receive a £1,000 grant, a trophy, and a certificate.
Five finalists will emerge for each Commonwealth region. The top finalists from each region will be recognised as the regional winner and receive £3,000, a trophy and a certificate.
One of the five regional winners will be named the Commonwealth Young Person of the Year 2023 and will be awarded £5,000.
For over five decades, the Commonwealth Youth Programme (CYP) has focused on empowering and enriching the lives of the 1.5 billion young Commonwealth citizens.
