The Trade Competitiveness Section of the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Secretariat of the Organisation of the African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) are organising a joint webinar on the topic ‘New Post-Brexit Procedural Rules for African, Caribbean, and Pacific Exports into the UK’.
The UK is a leading trade, investment and development cooperation partner for many African, Caribbean and Pacific countries and following its exit from the EU has notified new trade procedures to the WTO under the trade facilitation agreement. The webinar entails presentations on the key findings of three reports consolidated by experts on the new post- Brexit customs processes for African, Caribbean and Pacific exports into the UK, and aims to provide the required advisory and compliance services to Commonwealth and OACPS member states in the regions. The webinar provides an open floor for discussion with Ambassadors and High Commissioners based in London and Brussels, and trade experts from the private and public sector.
The webinar will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to:
i. Engage on the findings of the reports to understand key procedural changes to export requirements into the UK and the opportunities, and challenges it presents.
ii. Learn about the potential impact of Brexit on exports from Commonwealth OACPS members into the UK
iii. Discuss trade facilitation processes for these countries to support compliance with new post-Brexit rules and procedures
The event is open to member states representatives, trade experts and approved observers.
