The Commonwealth Secretariat will meet officials from organisations and ministries of youth in the Caribbean on 30 June to discuss specific challenges they face in delivering services during and after the COVID-19 crisis.
The pandemic has placed governments and organisations across the world under immense pressure to overcome disruptions and meet the needs of young people who are more vulnerable to the economic and educational effects of the crisis.
The virtual meeting aims to examine COVID-19’s impact on ministries and departments supporting young people and ensure the Secretariat’s work is finely tuned to the existing and emerging issues facing countries in the region.
During the meeting, officials will discuss:
- a report on COVID-19’s impact on Caribbean member countries;
- ways the Secretariat could boost the work of ministries and help mitigate the impact of the pandemic; and
- new modes of working to assist member countries to deliver programmes that improve the lives of young people.
The Secretariat is hosting the meeting with the Caribbean Community, Caribbean Development Bank and Caribbean Regional Youth Council.
