Commonwealth Observer Group observed the opening, voting, counting and results processes of the People’s Majlis (Parliamentary) Elections
Following an invitation from the Elections Commission of Maldives, Commonwealth Secretary-General Kamalesh Sharma constituted an Observer Group for the 22 March 2014 People’s Majlis (Parliamentary) Elections.
The Commonwealth Observer Group comprised seven eminent persons and was led by Hon Bruce Golding, former Prime Minister of Jamaica.
Observers were deployed to various areas and visited multiple constituencies, observing opening, voting, counting and results processes.
An interim statement was published on 24 March 2014.
