The Secretary-General Patricia Scotland has discussed how to deepen the partnership between the Commonwealth and the United Nations at a meeting with its head, Ban Ki-moon.
The UN Secretary-General commended the Commonwealth for its valuable contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals, including its work on climate change and support for small states.
Secretary-General Scotland said, “I’m grateful to be able to thank the United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, for his leadership that saw the global goals for sustainable development and COP21 (climate change) agreed. The Commonwealth is committed to Agenda 2030, the 17 goals designed to end extreme poverty and hunger.”
