Youth and education

The Secretariat helped Jamaica with recommendations to improve boys’ education.
Trade
The Secretariat helped Jamaica develop a Maritime Hub Strategy. This involved analysis of bunkering (the supplying of fuel for ships) and dry docking (a narrow basin that is flooded to allow a load to be floated in, then drained to allow that load to rest on a dry platform). Jamaica attracted US$20 million in investment as a result.
Sustainable development
The Secretariat advised Jamaica on managing its petroleum and mining sector resources more sustainably. It helped the country negotiate a new production sharing contract.
Climate change
Jamaica used the Commonwealth Climate Finance Access Hub to access money from international projects and funds to help it tackle climate change.
