Secretariat support for Namibia
Sustainability
The Secretariat is working with the Namibian government on the sustainable development of mineral resources like petrol, uranium and diamonds.
Governance
Namibia does well in corruption indexes. But the Secretariat is helping improve the way public organisations award contracts and buy things.
Youth
The Secretariat gives start-up money to the Namibia Youth Credit Scheme, which supports businesses and creates jobs.
The Secretariat also created a Diploma in Youth Development and a Bachelor of Arts in Youth Development.
Gender equality
The Secretariat is helping the government budget to support gender equality.
Climate change
The Commonwealth Secretariat supports Namibia to deliver climate action by building its capacity to access international climate finance through the Climate Finance Access Hub and supporting the development of robust climate policies.
Cybercrime
The Secretariat will help Namibia on cybercrime law and policy, in support of the Commonwealth Cyber Declaration.
Blue Charter
Namibia is a member of the Commonwealth Clean Ocean Alliance – the Blue Charter Action Group on tackling marine plastic pollution.
