Elections support
The Commonwealth Election Professionals (CEP) Initiative helped Nauru review its practice and processes to conduct fair and trusted elections.
In 2019, the Commonwealth helped Nauru’s electoral management body learn about encouraging women’s participation in elections.
Human rights
At a working session in April 2019, the Commonwealth helped Nauru build skills to report on human rights in the country under the United Nation’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR) process.
Sustainable development
In July 2018, the Commonwealth helped Nauru’s mining sector to engage with the International Seabed Authority (ISA). In February 2019, it helped Nauru learn about the ISA’s payment system.
Trade
In 2018, the Commonwealth helped Nauru improve its connections with trading partners. The country found out about reducing physical barriers to trade – for example, by improving infrastructure.
Blue Charter
Nauru is a member of the Commonwealth Clean Ocean Alliance – the Blue Charter Action Group on tackling marine plastic pollution.
Connectivity Agenda
Nauru is a member of the Digital and Supply Side Connectivity cluster of the Commonwealth Connectivity Agenda. The Connectivity Agenda is a platform for countries to exchange best practices and experiences to trade and investment and undertake domestic reform.
