As a result of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the 10th Commonwealth Sports Minister Meeting has been postponed and will be reconvened alongside the new dates for the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games.
Previous information
Sports ministers from 53 Commonwealth countries will meet in Tokyo, Japan on 23 July 2020 for their 10th biennial summit.
The meeting will focus on progress made on the priority issues agreed by Commonwealth Sports Ministers at their last gathering in 2018, which are:
- quantifying the contribution of sport to the sustainable development goals;
- strengthening the capability to protect the integrity of sport; and
- building a Commonwealth consensus on promoting human rights in and through sport.
The meeting will take place a day before the opening of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. A meeting of senior officials will be held on 22 July 2020.
